Shoreline Adult Education offers a free course for our ESOL and Diploma students to prepare for the ParaPathways Test to earn certification to become a paraeducator.
Course Details & Schedule

Course Length: The course meets 2–3 times per week for 14 weeks.

What You Will Learn: Participants will review the math, reading, and writing skills required to pass the ParaPathways test to earn certification to become a paraeducator.
- Note: Students must commit to attending the entire semester. This program also includes an optional paid internship on Fridays during the day at Branford Public Schools!
Test Eligibility Requirements
To enroll in this course and take the exam, students must meet the following criteria:

Hold a High School Diploma or GED (foreign diplomas must be translated) - Or be in the process of obtaining a high school diploma or GED

Be at least 18 years of age

Be work-eligible and know your Social Security Number

Have an active, valid email address

Present a valid, unexpired government-issued Photo ID on test day
Important Exam Policies & Rules

Testing Time: The test is approximately 2.5 hours long. Please arrive on time; testing room doors will lock once the exam begins.

Breaks: There are no scheduled breaks. If you leave the room briefly, the timer will continue to count down.

Prohibited Items: No cell phones, smartwatches, calculators, dictionaries, jackets, or extra papers are allowed in the testing room.

Scores: Official score reports are mailed to test-takers about 2–3 weeks after the test.
